Michael McEwan shares his thoughts on joining the Care Collective

I'm currently the Chairperson for East Renfrewshire Disability Action (ERDA) and our team are delighted to be involved in working to provide better advocacy for people with a disability in our area. Provision of care is still a big issue today, we all need care in one way or other, not just here in East Ren but everywhere in Scotland and beyond.

Care could be when you have a disability or when you are elderly, you can receive care from support workers, family, a friend or your partner. ERDA have some members who attend the meetings who get care from their partner, but we sometimes forgot that a carer and a partner do need a break, so they need the right support to find the right balance for themselves and their loved ones.

I feel there is a need for more work to be done on this issue, and ERDA are fully behind this, but also we need to do more research not just here in East Renfrewshire but the whole of Scotland.

To raise awareness of care work it's important to come together as a community to talk about this, the more it is discussed then we can look at best ways to support carers in our local area, and in Scotland.
