Dear Parent carers,
You may be aware of new legislation due to come into force next April which aims to improve health and wellbeing of carers. At the heart of the legislation is a requirement to involve carers in the support and services available to support them. The Care Collective has been working with a range of local people to add their voices to the process of developing strategies and services and to ensure that members of the community are able to influence decisions that affect them.
We have heard from some parents of children with additional needs and they have told us about some of the challenges they experience.
We would like to invite you to join us and other parents who care for children with additional needs to share your experiences.
We are keen to hear about the problems and obstacles you have experienced and to identify steps that could be taken to make improvements. We will take the outputs from this session to relevant decision makers within the Health and Social Care Partnership and work with them, and with you, to bring about constructive change.
We understand that caring responsibilities can make it difficult to attend meetings so please let us know if you require additional support for your child in order to attend and we will aim to ensure it is provided.
When: Thursday 20 July, from 10:30 until 1pm
Where: VAER, UnderCover, 56 Kelburn Street, Barrhead
*lunch will be provided*
