You may be aware of new legislation due to come into force next April which aims to improve health and wellbeing of carers. At the heart of the legislation is a requirement to involve carers in the support and services available to them.
The Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is developing a new Carers’ Strategy and developing plans for implementation of the new legislation. This will include consideration of future commissioning strategies.
As well as working with the HSCP, The Care Collective has been speaking with a range of local people and organisations. Through our programme of activity, we continue to create different types of opportunities, ensuring that members of the community are able to add their voices to the process of developing strategies and services, so they can influence decisions that affect them.
We would like to invite you to participate in a workshop alongside representatives from a wide range of community organisations providing support to people who care for a loved one in East Renfrewshire.
We know that there is a wide range of organisations across East Renfrewshire that explicitly or indirectly provide support to people who look after a loved one. At this workshop we will:
- Develop a shared picture of the support available now across East Renfrewshire
- Identify potential gaps
- Begin to develop a shared picture of what a ‘Caring East Ren’ might look like in the future.
We hope you will join us and share your thoughts and ideas on how together we might best support people who look after a loved one now and in the future.
When: Wednesday 19 July, 10:30am to 1pm
Where: VAER, UnderCOVER, 56
